Points of Interest
As little as 15 years ago Jaco was a sleepy little town with dirt roads and very few lodging and dining options. Today, it is the most popular beach town in Costa Rica.
Due to the popularity of the town there is a wide selection of hotels, restaurants, casinos, clubs and activities that will appeal to all types of travelers. Local supermarkets are well stocked, rental car agency's are located throughout the town and you will have access to countless banks, pharmacies and places to shop.
Jaco's nightlife is a little contagious! You will routinely find live music in restaurants and bars, pulsating beats in the disco's, ladies of the night offering their services, and people out at all hours of the day and night. Jaco is not just for the party crowd though. If you are looking for a night of culture, Jaco Theater puts on productions throughout the year with productions that range from comedy to drama. Sports bars will keep you up to date with your favorite sporting events and often host specials that can't be seen on regular TV's in the hotels. The beach bars have daytime beach activities that always draw crowds and it is not unusual to spend the entire day and evening at one of these locations blending the day into nighttime fun.
Between the beach and mountains surrounding Jaco, you can experience almost anything Costa Rica has to offer. Boat tours, river rafting, canopy trips, horseback trails golfing and more give you plenty of choices to keep your day filled with adventure.
Jaco can be loads of fun when certain precautions are taken. Never leave valuables in your car or unattended on the beach. As with any destination in the world, petty theft can be an issue in tourist areas and Jaco is no different. We also advise travelers to use experienced guides for tours that you may choose. They are informative and always allow you to see more than taking off on an unguided one.
Have fun in Jaco when you visit!
